Five Gregg County Men Sentenced for Drug Crimes

TYLER, TX—United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced today that five Longview men have been sentenced for federal drug crimes in the Eastern District of Texas. These hearings were all held today before United States District Judge Leonard E. Davis.
KEVIN LYNN CANADA, 28, pleaded guilty on Aug. 4, 2008, to possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced today to 77 months in federal prison.
CHESTER WAYNE DAVIS, 33, pleaded guilty on Aug. 4, 2008, to possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced today to 60 months in federal prison.
RICKY NELSON MILES, JR., 25, pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, 2008, to possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced today to 60 months in federal prison.
EMMANUEL LARMARK BUCHANAN, 33, pleaded guilty on Sept. 4, 2008, to possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced today to 60 months in federal prison.
WENDALLEN CARDARIUS ADAMS, 20, pleaded guilty on Sept. 4, 2008, to possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and was sentenced today to 60 months in federal prison.
According to information presented in court, since approximately February 2008, the defendants had been distributing cocaine base, also known as crack cocaine to others in and around the Longview, Texas area. An 87-count federal superseding indictment was returned on May 13, 2008, charging 29 individuals, including these five, with federal crimes.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the East Texas HIDTA Violent Crimes Task Force, the Gregg County C.O.D.E. Unit, the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, the Longview Police Department, the Gregg County District Attorney's Office, and the Kilgore Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard L. Moore.
