Worship Minister Charged with Receipt and Possession of Child Pornography

ORLANDO, FL—United States Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III announces the return of an indictment charging Mark Daniel DeHaven (33, Winter Garden) with two counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography. If convicted, he faces a minimum mandatory sentence of five years, up to 20 years in federal prison for each count of receiving child pornography, and up to 20 years in prison for the possession count. DeHaven was arrested and made his initial appearance in federal court on October 30, 2014. He is being detained pending trial.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of one or more federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Winter Garden Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ilianys Rivera Miranda.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
