Fugitive Captured

FBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC) William Woods is announcing the arrest of Ortega Mitchell, 26, a fugitive in a kidnapping conspiracy. The FBI, with assistance from Swansea Police, Illinois State Police, Belleville Police, and Fairview Heights Police, arrested Mitchell without incident on Tuesday (June 14, 2016) at approximately 8:00 p.m. Mitchell was located and arrested at a residence of an associate in Swansea, Illinois.

SAC Woods said, “We received a number of tips since we announced the fugitive and award just over a week ago. The arrest was the direct result of one of the tips. Because of the public’s help, we have arrested an armed and dangerous suspect who has been on the lam since last September.”

The FBI will pay out the $5,000 reward for the information that led to the capture of Mitchell.

Mitchell, AKA Munk Milano, is one of three defendants who have been federally indicted in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri, with conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to distribute marijuana, and two other gun charges. Mitchell will make his initial appearance today in U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri.
