FBI Springfield Names Grounds of Grace as the Director’s Community Leadership Award Recipient
David Nanz, special agent in charge of the FBI Springfield Field Office, announced Grounds of Grace in Springfield, Illinois, has been selected as the recipient of the 2021 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA).
This distinctive award, presented on behalf of the Director of the FBI, was formally created in 1990 to honor individuals and organizations for their efforts in combating terrorism, cyber crime, illegal drugs, gangs, and other crimes leading to violence in America. Grounds of Grace is recognized for its positive impact in the community by assisting survivors of human trafficking throughout the United States.
“Human trafficking cannot be tackled by law enforcement alone,” said FBI Springfield Field Office Special Agent in Charge David Nanz. “The FBI combines numerous resources, not only from law enforcement partners, but also from organizations like Grounds of Grace who assist victims on their road to recovery.”
Grounds of Grace’s mission is to integrate and empower survivors into the community by providing intense trauma psychotherapy, medical assistance, nutritional health plans, food services, clothing, job skills training, social skills training, spiritual guidance, friendship and mentoring, and opportunities to pursue a quality education. They work alongside community agencies to help provide various needs for survivors. Grounds of Grace provides housing, but also meets with clients who live in homeless shelters, hospitals, or their own apartments.
The organization is dedicated to improving the lives of men, women, and children by journeying with them as they pursue a life that provides them with a sense of autonomy, liberty, and self-fulfillment. Grounds of Grace strives to be flexible and charitable as they help their clients navigate the difficult terrain of healing and recovery.
Dana Pfeiffer, Executive Director for Grounds of Grace said, “We know that teamwork is key to overcoming any challenge, and that hope and a smile go a long way when times feel rough. This award underscores our commitment to perseverance, creativity, and empathy in helping people through challenging circumstances.”
FBI Springfield will present the award to Pfeiffer on behalf of Grounds of Grace.
