Federal Charges for Using an Instrument of Interstate Commerce to Willfully Make Threats to Kill, Injure, Intimidate, and Damage Property by Means of Explosives

SAN JUAN, PR—Special Agent in Charge Douglas A. Leff, of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) San Juan Field Office, announced the arrest of ELVIS DAVILA ABREU.

On October 30, 2018, a federal criminal complaint charged ELVIS DAVILA ABREU, age 32, from San German, Puerto Rico, with using an instrument of interstate commerce to willfully make threats to kill, injure, intimidate, and damage property by means of explosives, in violation of Title 18, United states Code, Section 844(e).

On September 24 and 27, 2018, DAVILA ABREU used his Gmail account to make death and bomb threats against Jews. On September 27, 2018, DAVILA ABREU accessed the FBI Public Access Line (PAL) calling for the death of Blacks.

If convicted DAVILA ABREU faces a potential penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Myriam Y. Fernandez-Gonzalez and investigated by the FBI.
