Federal Charges for Attempted Sexual Trafficking of Children

SAN JUAN, PR—Special Agent in Charge Douglas A. Leff, of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) San Juan Field Office, announced the arrest of ALEXIS RIVERA CASTILLO.

On July 24, 2018, a criminal complaint charged ALEXIS RIVERA CASTILLO, age 44, from Carolina, Puerto Rico, with attempted sexual trafficking of children, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1591(a) and 1594(a).

RIVERA CASTILLO offered a woman $3,000 to engage in sexual activity with her 10 year old daughter and was arrested upon his arrival at a Toa Baja area motel.

If convicted RIVERA CASTILLO faces a potential penalty of up to 15 years of imprisonment.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Elba Gorbea. It is being investigated by the FBI.
