Arrest of Carlos a Garcia Valentin for Production and Possession of Child Pornography

SAN JUAN, PR—Special Agent in Charge Douglas A. Leff, of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) San Juan Field Office, announced the arrest of Carlos A Garcia Valentin.

A criminal complaint issued on April 10, 2019, charged Garcia Valentin with “Production of Child Pornography by Parent or Legal Guardian” in violation of Tile 18, United States Code, Section 2251(b) and “Possession of Child Pornography” in violation of Tile 18, United States Code, Section 2252(a)(4). Garcia Valentin was arrested without incident by members of the FBI San Juan Child Exploitation Human Trafficking Task Force.

If convicted, Garcia Valentin could face imprisoned from 15 years to 30 years for Production of Child Pornography and up to 20 years for Possession of Child Pornography. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Nicholas W. Cannon and investigated by the FBI.

The public is reminded a criminal complaint contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty. The U.S. government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
