FBI, Partners Complete Operation Cross Country X
The San Francisco Division of the FBI worked with multiple partner agencies and victim support and service providers to conduct operations in support Operation Cross Country X, an international effort focused on ending child sex trafficking. The operation took place from October 11 to 15, 2016.
Operation Cross Country X led to the successful recovery of six juveniles (the youngest was 13 years old), all of whom are receiving services from agencies dedicated to assisting trafficking victims. Additionally, the adult women involved in prostitution who were contacted during the operation were also offered victim and support services.
“The success of Operation Cross Country is a direct result of cooperation among our partner agencies and NGOs,” said Assistant Special Agent in Charge Bertram Fairries. “Although there is still work to do, the progress made during the operation is a step forward in making our community safe and getting victims of trafficking the help they need in order to rebuild their lives.”
In the Bay Area, Operation Cross Country X spanned six counties, including San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Alameda, Santa Clara, and Sonoma.
