Protect Yourself from Fraud

Join the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Law Enforcement Partners, and Community Organizations at Anti-Fraud Seminar

The San Diego FBI has organized an Anti-Fraud Seminar to be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. in partnership with local law enforcement agencies and community organizations. The three-hour event, which will be held at 451 W. Bobier Drive in Vista, California, 92083, is free to San Diego-area residents and will provide access to Anti-Fraud Experts.

The FBI is responsible for investigating a wide variety of fraud and is in a position to see those who fall prey to fraudsters and their newest scams. Prevention of these crimes is an important goal for the FBI and our law enforcement partners. This community event is one way the FBI is arming citizens with information to protect themselves and avoid becoming a victim.

Identity theft, investment scams, online threats, telemarketing schemes, health care fraud, e-mail scams, and computer malware are just some of the threats that exist to your personal, financial, and family safety. Fraud experts will be discussing these threats, how to protect against the threats, and explain what to do if targeted in three educational sessions:

  • Protecting Yourself and Family from Fraud
  • Cyber Security for You and Your Family
  • Fraud Schemes Targeting Seniors

Each 75-minute session is packed with valuable information and tips to protect your family. Attendees will be able to choose two sessions to attend during the event. In addition, there will be informational booths hosted by participating agencies and organizations where citizens can obtain resources and information directly from fraud experts.

The San Diego FBI would like to thank our partners participating in this event, including the California Department of Justice-Bureau of MediCal Fraud and Elder Abuse, California Bureau of Automotive Repair, California Department of Insurance, Internal Revenue Service, National Identity Theft Resource Center, San Diego Better Business Bureau, San Diego County Credit Union, San Diego Health and Human Services, San Diego Sheriff’s Department, Securing our eCity Foundation, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
