FBI to Host Youth Symposium

Empowering youth is the theme of an FBI-hosted youth symposium taking place Saturday, March 25, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at West High School, located at 241 North 300 West in Salt Lake City.

The goal is to empower Utah youth in grades 9-12 with knowledge about important and sensitive issues facing teens today.

The day-long event will address topics including human sex trafficking and sextortion, suicide prevention, opiate abuse, and cyber crimes.

Model and activist Kadi Correia will be the keynote speaker. Motivational speaker and former Utah Jazz player Mark Eaton will also be addressing students.

FBI Community Outreach Specialist Melissa Adams has been planning this event for the past year. She wanted input from youth, so she partnered with four West High School students, who also saw the importance of educating their peers. The student group is called #YouthAmbassadors4Change.

The FBI would like to thank the sponsors of this event, including West High School, LifeLine for Youth, Utah Transit Authority, the FBI Salt Lake City Citizens Academy Alumni Association, Caley’s Catering, and Design Ink.

Participants under 18 years of age must bring a consent form signed by their parent or guardian.
