FBI Richmond Seeks Information on Abingdon, Virginia Bank Robbery Subject

Agents assigned to the FBI Richmond Division’s Bristol Resident Agency and our law enforcement partners are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for the robbery that occurred at the Carter Bank & Trust located in the 200 block of West Main Street in Abingdon, Virginia, on December 31, 2018.

On December 31, 2018, an unknown white male subject entered the Carter Bank & Trust, approached the victim teller and announced a robbery. The subject told the teller that he was armed with a bomb. Once the victim teller complied with the robbers demands, he fled the bank.

The subject is described as a white male, approximately 5’8”, large build. The subject wore a distinctive mask described as a “Mexican Day of the Dead” type mask, gloves, a gray/black hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants with white stripes up each leg. A possible vehicle description is a dark-colored Subaru wagon, potentially a Subaru Outback.
