Keizer Man Charged with Two Bank Robberies

The FBI has filed a criminal complaint against a Keizer man, Clarence Drew Sides, age 51, charging him with two counts of bank robbery.

Since the initial robbery almost a month ago, the FBI and Salem Police Department-with the help of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office-have been working to identify and detain the person responsible for a series of robberies. This complaint specifically charges Sides with two of these robberies:

  • April 20, 2017-Columbia Bank, 3305 Commercial Street SE, Salem, Oregon
  • April 26, 2017-Chase Bank, 5135 Commercial Street SE, Salem, Oregon

On May 11, 2017, Salem Police took Sides into custody on state charges as a result of the investigation into a third robbery in the area. That third robbery occurred at Key Bank, 4871 Lancaster Drive NE, Salem, Oregon on May 11th. Sides remains in the Marion County Jail on the state charges and a federal hold.

A complaint is only an accusation of a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Assistant United States Attorney Scott Kerin is prosecuting this case.
