Criss-Cross Bandit Suspects Arrested and Indicted

PHOENIX, AZ—On September 4, 2018, a federal grand jury indicted Seitaro Kline, 39, and Carrie Kline, 34, in connection with the “Criss-Cross Bandits” bank robbery series. The Kline’s were wanted for a string of bank robberies, which took place throughout the Phoenix-Metro area between November 5, 2016 and July 24, 2018. The nickname came from the fact that the suspects alternated which one of them committed the bank robbery. During each robbery, the suspects utilized a robbery demand note, obtained a known amount of money, and fled the scene.

The Kline’s, who are married, were indicted for nine bank robberies plus one count of conspiracy, additional charges may follow. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force would like to thank the public for their help with this case along with the FBI Albuquerque Field Office and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the arrests in this case. We would also like to thank the Phoenix Police Department, Tempe Police Department, Peoria Police Department, and Glendale Police Department for their work on these investigations.

The two suspects have been charged in an indictment filed in federal court. An indictment is only an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
