Norfolk FBI and Broadcast Church Partner to Educate Senior Citizens

The Norfolk Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in partnership with Broadcast Church, will hold a seminar to discuss Romance Scams and Ponzi Schemes.

Senior citizens, children and caretakers of seniors, and all community members are invited to this free educational event Thursday, March 21, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Broadcast Church 910 Oak Grove Road, Chesapeake, Virginia 23320.

Those interested in attending are asked to register at https://fbibroadcast.eventbrite.com.

This event is part of the FBI’s commitment to investigate and help prevent Elder Fraud— financial fraud schemes against senior citizens. Elder Fraud takes many forms as criminal elements seek to take advantage of this vulnerable and growing population. Romance Scams and Ponzi Schemes are just two of many kinds of fraud schemes that target seniors because of their unique life situation and financial position. An important step in helping seniors avoid becoming victimized is educating the population to be more aware of scams that target the elderly.

The event is open to the press.
