FBI New York Searches for Possible Victims in a Sexual Enticement Investigation
NEW YORK, NY—The New York FBI is searching for additional victims in a sexual enticement investigation involving a man named Chad Barclay. A federal indictment in the Eastern District of New York charged Barclay on June 6, 2023, with one count to entice an individual to travel in interstate commerce to engage in prostitution and one count of Hobbs Act robbery.
Investigators say Barclay allegedly used escort websites and online marketplaces to recruit and entice his victims. Upon meeting his victims, Barclay raped and robbed them. As part of the crime, he typically threatened his victims, telling them that there are “guys” worse than him who are waiting outside of the apartment to murder or rape them. Barclay used the victims’ cell phones or credit cards to send money to his own accounts or make cash withdrawals from ATMs.
The FBI believes Barclay may have more victims in several states. We encourage anyone with information or if they believe they are a victim of Barclay to contact the FBI, regardless of their immigration or lifestyle status.
