New Orleans Fugitive Dwayne Anthony Winans, aka 'Butter,' Arrested by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office

On Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at approximately 7:55 p.m., Dwayne Anthony Winans was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at the Greyhound Bus Station located at 10 N. Pearl Street in Jacksonville, Florida 32202.

This arrest was a joint coordinated law enforcement effort between the FBI New Orleans’ Violent Crime Task Force, the FBI Jacksonville Division, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and the New Orleans Police Department.

Dwayne A. Winans, aka 'Butter,' was wanted for the August 4, 2016 bank robbery of the Fidelity Bank branch located at 5530 Crowder Blvd. in New Orleans, Louisiana 70127, as well as an armed carjacking in New Orleans on August 12, 2016.

On Thursday, August 4, 2016, at approximately 12:45 p.m., a male suspect wearing female attire and makeup, alleged to be Dwayne Winans, entered the Fidelity Bank and announced a robbery by presenting a demand note to the teller. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the bank and entered a gray four-door Honda, where a driver was waiting. The vehicle then proceeded North on Crowder Blvd.

On Friday, August 12, 2016, Dwayne Winans is accused of carjacking a couple in a 2nd District neighborhood at approximately 11:45 p.m. Winans approached the couple as they exited their 2012 Toyota Silver Camry and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The suspect was described as a light-complexioned black male with freckles on his face and a large tattoo on his neck.

Dwayne Winans has also been identified as a person of interest for a number of robberies throughout the New Orleans Metropolitan area.
