Joint Investigation Leads to the Arrest of the Alleged First American Bank and Trust Robber

NEW ORLEANS—FBI New Orleans Field Office Special Agent in Charge Eric Rommal announces the arrest of Stephen Scott, for his alleged involvement in the robbery of First American Bank and Trust, 1800 Veterans Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana, pursuant to a criminal complaint filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana.

The criminal complaint alleges, that on Monday, April 9, 2018, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Scott entered the First American Bank and Trust, approached the teller counter and demanded money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, Scott fled the bank.

Scott was taken into custody on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at approximately 9:59 a.m. in the New Orleans area, by the FBI New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force without incident. Scott was then transported to Orleans Parish Prison for processing.

This investigation was jointly coordinated by the FBI New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana will be prosecuting this matter.

The public is reminded criminal complaints and indictments contain only charges and are not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
