Houma Man Allegedly Found in Possesion of 1,354 Images and 779 Videos of Child Pornography

On Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Michael Chauvin was arrested by the FBI New Orleans Division’s Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force on a child pornography charge.

After a lengthy investigation, Michael Chauvin (white male, DOB August 23, 1985) was allegedly found to be in possession of approximately 1,354 images and 779 videos of child pornography. The FBI worked with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Louisiana, to indict Chauvin on one count of possession of child pornography.

Since its inception in 2001, the FBI New Orleans Division’s Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force has used arrests and search warrants to discover hundreds of thousands of child pornography images and videos and helped rescue minors that were victims of child exploitation and human sex trafficking. This FBI led task force is composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers who conduct covert online operations to identify minors being used in the sex trafficking industry and bring the offenders to justice.
