Law enforcement officers from across the United States and even some from around the world are visiting New Orleans from October 5 through October 9 for a special training session offered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and community partners organized to protect the United States’ infrastructure.

The Gulf Coast Intelligence and Law Enforcement Training Seminar (INLETS) is a training program designed to connect those charged with protecting our communities with the necessary tools to carry out their jobs. A collaborative effort between the FBI, the Louisiana and Maryland State Fusion Centers, and InfraGard, this INLETS conference was established to further develop and support the analytical and investigative capability of law enforcement, campus police, and private sector stakeholders.

The week-long conference brings law enforcement subject matter experts (SMEs) from as far away as Scotland Yard to Louisiana. Within this conference, SMEs will have the opportunity to share their experiences about recent events and specific threats the U.S. is facing. Some of the topics and speakers include: mass transit terrorist attacks, active shooter events and campus shootings, program managers from the FBI’s Counter Terrorism Division discussing violent extremists, and FBI profilers from the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) talking about case studies and so much more.

We invite local media to join us on October 7 at 6:00 p.m. at The National World War II Museum at 945 Magazine St. (entrance located on Andrew Higgins Dr.) in New Orleans during the “Tribute to Heroes” reception to help us honor all who served and all those who gave their lives in the line of duty. In order to commemorate this event, the USCG Color Guard will preside over the ceremony and truly provide a hero’s welcome.
