FBI and Local Law Enforcement Recover Two Kidnapped Children

On Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Jasmine Jackson was arrested by the FBI New Orleans Division’s SWAT team, the FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children/Human Trafficking Task Force, the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) for kidnapping two young children.

In a joint investigation, the FBI, NOPD, and JPSO discovered that Jasmine Jackson abducted her two children, 2-year old Janiya Williams and 3-year old Jamir Williams, on Monday, March 26, 2016, from their biological father who resided in New Orleans. At the time of the abduction and arrest, Jasmine Jackson had no parental rights or authorized supervision of the children.

During the investigation, law enforcement agencies identified Jackson’s whereabouts and deployed to the 1500 block of London Cross Road in Harvey, Louisiana, where the FBI SWAT team effected an arrest of Jasmine Jackson. Both children were recovered unharmed. After their safe recovery, NOPD took custody of the children, who were returned to their biological father having legal custody. A third infant was also recovered and turned over to the JPSO and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Jackson was turned over to JPSO for processing/booking and will be extradited back to Orleans Parish to face an NOPD felony kidnapping charge.
