Dwayne Anthony Winans, a.k.a. 'Butter,' Wanted by the FBI and New Orleans Police Department

Updated August 24, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. EDT: Dwayne Anthony Winans has been arrested.

The FBI’s New Orleans Violent Crime Task Force (NOVCTF) and the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) are requesting the assistance of the public in locating Dwayne Anthony Winans (date of birth: February 5, 1994).

Dwayne A. Winans, a.k.a. “Butter,” is wanted for the August 4, 2016 bank robbery of the Fidelity Bank branch located at 5530 Crowder Blvd. in New Orleans, LA 70127, as well as an armed carjacking in New Orleans on August 12, 2016.

On Thursday, August 4, 2016, at approximately 12:45 p.m., a male suspect wearing female attire and makeup, alleged to be Dwayne Winans, entered the Fidelity Bank and announced a robbery by presenting a demand note to the teller. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the bank, and entered a gray four-door Honda, where a driver was waiting. The vehicle then proceeded North on Crowder Blvd.

On Friday, August 12, 2016, Dwayne Winans is accused of ca-jacking a couple in a 2nd District neighborhood at approximately 11:45 p.m. Winans approached the couple as they exited their 2012 Toyota Silver Camry and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The suspect was described as a light-complexioned black male with freckles on his face and a large tattoo on his neck.

Dwayne Winans is also a person of interest for a number of robberies throughout the New Orleans Metropolitan area.

He should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Metropolitan Orleans Bank Security Association (MOBSA) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of this bank robber. The public can visit bankrobbers.fbi.gov for further information on suspects wanted for bank robbery.
