MIAMI—George L. Piro, special agent in charge of FBI Miami, announces the nomination of Mr. Charles Dodge for the 2018 Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA).

Mr. Dodge serves as the City Manager for Pembroke Pines, Florida, the third largest city in Broward County, Florida. He is responsible for the overall growth and management of the city and oversees all aspects of its municipal functions.

Mr. Dodge has a passion and vision for the academic enrichment of children. This drive enabled him to realize the creation and development of the Pines Charter School system, which consists of four elementary schools, three middle schools, and a high school with more than 6,000 students currently enrolled. All of these schools have earned the State of Florida “A” rank for charter schools along with numerous other academic achievement awards.

Last fall, Mr. Dodge partnered with the FBI’s Citizens Academy Alumni Association to host the first annual Youth Empowerment Summit. The summit brought together over 230 high school students with numerous law enforcement officials for a day-long event designed to foster positive and healthy relationships between the students and law enforcement.

Because of his long standing commitment to the youth of South Florida, he is FBI Miami’s nominee for this prestigious award.

The DCLA was created in 1990 as a way to honor individuals and organizations for their efforts combating crime, terrorism, drugs, and violence in America. The special agents in charge of each of the FBI’s 56 field offices nominate a worthy recipient each year as a way to recognize those who are making a difference in their communities.
