FBI Announces the Arrest of an Alleged Bank Robber

The FBI announces the arrest of Oscar Rivas, 26, of Miami, FL, on federal bank robbery charges for his alleged involvement in the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank branch at 1051 NW 14th Street, Miami, FL, on June 22, 2018.

Rivas was arrested in Broward County earlier today following a pursuit by Miami Dade Police Department and the Broward Sheriff’s Office that ended on westbound I-595 near the northbound Turnpike off ramp. The pursuit ended when Rivas had an accident rolling his car. There were no injuries to Rivas, law enforcement, or others. No shots were fired.

Rivas is in federal custody. His initial appearance is anticipated to be in federal court in Miami, FL. The complaint detailing the charges can be found in PACER in due course.

The City of Miami Police Department, Miami Dade Police Department, Broward Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Highway Patrol, the South Florida Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force, and the FBI continue their investigation.
