Florida Man Charged with Sex Crime Extradited from Mexico by the FBI
MIAMI—Manuel Rendon Morales, 68, of Moore Haven, Florida, was extradited by the FBI today from Mexico City, Mexico, to face state charges that he allegedly committed unlawful sexual battery upon a minor under the age of 12 during 2005 to 2006.
The Seminole Police Department initially acquired the state warrant.
Morales later fled the state of Florida.
After learning of Morales’ flight out of Florida, the FBI obtained a federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrant.
The subject was recently located in Mexico where he was detained by law enforcement authorities and held for extradition by the FBI.
Upon arrival at Miami International Airport today, the FBI handed over the subject to the Seminole Police Department for transport to Glades County, Florida, where he will face state charges.
The Seminole PD, Safe Trails Violent Crime Task Force and the FBI continue their investigation.
FBI Miami would like to thank Mexico’s Fiscalia General de la Republica—FGR (Attorney General’s Office), the FBI’s Legal Attache in Mexico City, and the Seminole Police Department for their diligence and close cooperation with this matter.
The above are merely allegations and the public should be reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
