Man Suspected in Las Vegas Murder Earlier This Year Arrested in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES—A man suspected of killing a woman in Las Vegas was arrested Monday afternoon, December 16, 2019, in Los Angeles by the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force, announced Paul Delacourt, the assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office.
Stanley Dewayne Thomas, 31, of Las Vegas, is alleged to have shot and killed a female victim in North Las Vegas on October 16th, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department.
Based on an investigation by detectives with the North Las Vegas Police Department, Thomas was identified as a suspect following the murder. On October 24th, 2019, a felony warrant was issued in Clark County for Thomas charging him with murder with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. At that time, detectives determined that Thomas fled the state of Nevada and enlisted the assistance of the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force.
On November 22, 2019, Thomas was charged in a federal criminal complaint filed in United States District Court in the Southern District of Nevada with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP).
Following the arrest in Los Angeles, Thomas was booked into a Los Angeles jail and will be transferred to Nevada for prosecution on the murder charge. The United States government is expected to dismiss the federal warrant charging Thomas.
The fugitive investigation concerning Thomas was conducted by detectives with the North Las Vegas Police Department and the FBI’s Fugitive Task Forces in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The Fugitive Task Force in Los Angeles is comprised of FBI agents and Task Force Officers with the LAPD; the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; and Los Angeles County Probation.
