Ascent 121 Receives 2017 Director’s Community Leadership Award

National Ceremony Planned for April

INDIANAPOLIS—W. Jay Abbott, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Indianapolis Division, presented the 2017 Director’s Community Leadership Award to Ascent 121 on January 22, 2018. A national ceremony is planned at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. in April. FBI Director Christopher Wray will personally present the award to Ascent 121 and 55 other recipients from across the country.

Since 1990, the FBI has recognized individuals and organizations for their efforts in combating crime, terrorism, drugs, and violence in America. Each year, the special agent in charge of each FBI field office selects an individual or organization that has had an exemplary impact on the community.

Ascent 121 serves as a valuable resource for the FBI’s victim services, and is dedicated to helping build trust between victims and the FBI and its law enforcement partners. Through their recovery services and education programs, Ascent 121 serves as a catalyst for change in Indiana, and their partnership with law enforcement is vital to the future of the community.
