El Paso Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Money Laundering

On July 12, 2018, in El Paso, a federal judge sentenced 35-year old Ryan Lawson Parsell to 37 months in federal prison for scheming to defraud his victim of $475,765.00 announced Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Emmerson Buie, Jr.

Parsell purchased gold coins with the money which he used to purchase a boat and to pay for personal expenses.

In addition to the prison term, United States District Court Judge David Guaderrama ordered Parsell pay, $475,769 in restitution and forfeiture of his boat and other assets, and be placed on supervised release for a period of three years after completing his prison term.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation El Paso and assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation San Juan.
