FBI Conducts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the FBI Alpine Resident Agency Building

ALPINE, TX—Today, the FBI El Paso Field Office along with numerous law enforcement partners and federal, state, county, and city officials participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of its Alpine Resident Agency.

FBI El Paso has had a presence in West Texas for many years. FBI Special Agents stationed in the Midland Resident Agency would travel to Alpine to investigate criminal and national security matters affecting the communities of Jeff Davis, Pecos, Presidio, and Brewster counties.

In 2014, FBI El Paso assigned its first full-time agent to Alpine, still having to travel down from Midland. In 2017, the United States Border Patrol – Alpine Station, provided workspace for FBI utilization. In June of 2017, FBI El Paso obtained funding to staff an additional agent in the Alpine office, officially making it a two-man Resident Agency, as many of the FBI’s small Resident Agencies are referred to.

“FBI’s presence in Alpine demonstrates our commitment to members of the community and our law enforcement partners to provide the FBI resources necessary to assist in investigations, stop those who threaten our national security, and seek justice for those who have fallen victim to criminal predators,” said Jeffery R. Downey, special agent in charge, FBI El Paso Field Office.
