Southwest Detroit Shatters Myths About Crime

The Detroit Field Office of the FBI is joining with the Southwest Detroit Congress of Communities to invite residents of Southwest Detroit and the surrounding communities to a public forum on Wednesday, August 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to increase awareness of some of the trending crime threats that are affecting Southwest Detroit.

Specifically, the forum will address the crimes of human trafficking, child abduction, cyber stalking, and more, as well as some of the myths and misconceptions that surround these crimes. The forum will also inform residents on the avenues and procedures to report crimes and provide resources and experts to teach situational awareness and crime prevention techniques.

A panel discussion will include representatives from the Southwest Congress of Communities, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the FBI, Detroit Police Department, the city of Detroit, and Crimestoppers. There will also be activities for the kids.
