ATF Offers an Additional $10,000 Reward and Joins FBI Detroit Violent Crime Task Force Investigation into Shooting of U.S. District Court Judge Terrence G. Berg

Update: The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $15,000 reward in this case, bringing the reward total to $50,000. Details.

Paul Abbate, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Detroit Field Office, and Steve Bogdalek, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), announced that the ATF has joined the investigation and is offering an additional $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible for the March 5, 2015 shooting of U.S. District Court Judge Terrence G. Berg.

The FBI offered a $25,000 reward on March 6, 2015. The ATF’s additional offer of $10,000 establishes a combined reward of $35,000.

On Thursday, March 5, 2015, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Judge Berg was outside his residence in Detroit when he was approached by two men. One of the men brandished a firearm and demanded to go inside Judge Berg’s home. When he refused, the man shot Judge Berg in his knee. The two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle described by witnesses as a dark-colored sedan. The suspects are described as black males, of average build, and approximately 18-25 years old.

The investigation is being conducted by the FBI Violent Crime Task Force, in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Service; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; and the Detroit Police Department.
