FBI Joint Press Release with Lansing Police Department: Active Search for Wynter Smith
Lansing Police Department
As we continue our nonstop effort to locate 2-year-old Wynter Smith, we wanted to provide the community with an update. First and foremost, this is still a very active search and investigation.
The Lansing Police Department is working in collaboration with the FBI and law enforcement partners locally as well as in the Detroit area. We are working with members of the victim’s family and are very thankful for the public’s assistance in providing us with tips to help find Wynter. In any case like this, we need everyone to be moving in the same direction, particularly the family, the community, and law enforcement. As a reminder, anyone who is found assisting the suspect in an effort to hide the victim will be subject to potential criminal charges.
We are also glad to report the 22-year-old victim is still in stable condition and is being treated at a local hospital. All agencies continue to work diligently investigating the suspect’s course of action after he left the crime scene. We are following leads in both Lansing and Detroit and plead with anyone who has information to please call the tip line. We need every community to help bring Wynter home.
