Elyria Man Federally Charged with Receiving and Distributing Child Pornography

Christopher Goodin (33) of Elyria, Ohio, was placed into custody on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, pursuant to a federal search warrant being executed at his residence.

According to the federal complaint, Goodin posed as a 12-year-old female on the Internet and enticed an actual 12-year-old girl to send him nude and sexually explicit photos of herself. Goodin continued the online relationship with the 12-year-old, coercing and threatening her in order to receive additional pornographic images of a minor.

The minor female informed her mother of the online relationship and the photos she had sent over the Internet. In August 2018, the mother of the 12-year-old female victim was interviewed by Salt Lake City FBI agents and provided consent for her daughter’s cell phone to be examined.

The individual posing as a 12-year-old girl was identified as Christopher Goodin. A search warrant was executed at Goodin’s residence on Wednesday, October 10th. Goodin admitted to using the screen name “Shorty853”. A review of his cell phone was conducted and nude and sexually explicit photos of the 12-year-old were located in the photos section on his phone.

Numerous videos and images, possibly additional child pornography, were obtained from Goodin’s cell phone. These additional photos and videos will be examined to determine if they meet criteria for child pornography.

Goodin appeared in federal court on Wednesday afternoon and will appear today, October 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Judge Parker’s courtroom for a detention hearing.

A charge is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
