Four Suspects Charged in Armed Robberies of Dayton-Area Businesses
Special Agent in Charge Angela L. Byers of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Attorney Carter M. Stewart, Chief Richard Biehl of the Dayton Police Department, Sheriff Phil Plummer of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Captain John Porter of the Trotwood Police Department, and Police Chief Matt Hamlin of the Clayton Police Department announced today that four individuals alleged to be involved in Dayton-area robberies have been arrested and charged via federal criminal complaints.
The Southern Ohio Safe Streets Task Force, Trotwood Police Department, Clayton Police Department, and Dayton Police Department began investigating a robbery gang in September 2015. The gang is alleged to be responsible for multiple armed robberies in Dayton, Trotwood and Clayton, Ohio.
Gregory Lewis Gibson, 28, of Dayton, has been charged in a federal criminal complaint with Hobbs Act robbery and the use, carry, and brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence for the alleged robbery of a Family Dollar store in Dayton, Ohio on September 27, 2015. Lewis was arrested by law enforcement officers on October 29, 2015.
An additional criminal complaint charges Dayton residents Roderick Brown, 23, LeRontae Williams, 23, and Jayla Walker, 23, of Hobbs Act robbery and the use, carry, and brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence for the alleged robbery of the Main Source Bank in Clayton, Ohio on September 30, 2015. Brown and Walker were arrested on October 19, 2015. Williams was arrested on October 28, 2015.
This investigation has also resolved the cases involving the alleged robberies of the River Valley Credit Union in Trotwood that occurred on September 17, 2015 and October 13, 2015.
The Southern Ohio Safe Streets Task Force is comosed of investigators from the Dayton Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI.
A criminal complaint is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by criminal complaint is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at later criminal proceedings.
