FBI, Local, State, and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies Search for Escapee Charged with Murder

The FBI, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, and numerous local, state, and federal agencies are searching for a jail escapee charged with murdering a Wake County Deputy in August 2022. Alder Marin-Sotelo escaped from the Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville, Virginia, where he was being held awaiting trial.

Marin-Sotelo is a 26-year-old Hispanic male, 5’6”, 150 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Digital billboard images are up across the state of North Carolina and Virginia. The below image is being shown on space donated by several advertising partners.

Marin-Sotelo is considered extremely dangerous and was last seen driving an early 2000 red or burgundy Ford Mustang with a 30-day temporary tag. The below photos are of the actual vehicle investigators believe he was driving when he left the jail. Marin-Sotelo is charged with killing Deputy Ned Byrd. If you see him, do not approach him.
