Reward Offered in Brazen Brinks Armed Truck Armed Robbery
The Baltimore FBI, along with the Takoma Park Police Department and Montgomery County Police, is asking for the public’s help identifying the two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery takeover of a Brinks armored truck in Takoma Park, Maryland. Anyone with information leading to an arrest in the case could receive a reward of up to $10,000.
On October 25, 2016, at approximately 11:56 a.m., the FBI and Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of Laurel Avenue inTakoma Park, Maryland at the corner of Carroll Avenue for the report of an armed robbery of a Brinks armored truck. The Brinks truck armed guard was preparing to deliver U.S. currency into the SunTrust Bank branch when he was approached by two suspects with assault rifles. The two armed suspects took the U.S. currency that the victim was holding and fled in a vehicle down Carroll Avenue, reportedly making a right on to Westmoreland Avenue. The victim was not physically injured.
Witnesses describe the subjects as two black males, about 6'0" tall, thin, both were wearing Tyvek/painters style suits and gloves. Eyewitness accounts identified the getaway vehicle as a maroon four-door sedan, possibly a Lexus 350, with temporary tags.
The armed robbery is being investigated jointly with the Takoma Park Police Department and Montgomery County Police.
