'Punisher' Robber Hits Sandy Springs Bank; Now Responsible for Six Area Bank Robberies

ATLANTA—David J. LeValley, special agent in charge (SAC), FBI Atlanta Field Office renewed his request for help from the public in identifying and locating an armed bank robber who continues to target Atlanta area banks. The suspect sometimes wears a t-shirt with the logo of the comic book character “The Punisher”, like he did in the most recent robbery in Sandy Springs:

On December 22, 2017, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the suspect entered the Sun Trust Bank at 993 Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs. After pretending to fill out a deposit slip the suspect confronted a bank teller and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect put the money in a small black zippered bag. He was wearing the ‘Punisher’ shirt and had a wrist wrap around his right hand.

The FBI believes the same suspect is responsible for the following bank robberies:

September 6, 2017, at 12:39 p.m., Regions Bank, 2419 Cheshire Bridge Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30324: Suspect used a demand note, had a small black zippered bag (Child’s Pencil Case), wore a red and black long sleeve shirt and black ball cap, and left in a black Toyota Corolla (2014 to 2016).

September 22, 2017, 2:23 p.m., Regions Bank, 6637 Roswell Road, Atlanta (Sandy Springs), Georgia, 30328: Suspect used a verbal demand and wore the same outfit from the previous robbery.

October 16, 2017, Regions Bank, 6503 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, Georgia, 300022: The suspect used a demand note, and wore the same outfit from previous robberies.

December 5, 2017, 11:45 a.m., Bank of America, Dunwoody Place, 8755 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, Georgia, 30350: The suspect displayed a weapon after the bank teller did not comply with his demands. Suspect wore a black and gray long sleeve shirt and Walking Dead cap with “Beware I Bite” logo.

December 7, 2017, 1:28 p.m., Regions Bank, 2486 Roswell Road NE, Marietta, Georgia, 30062: The suspect used a demand note and wore a gray ‘Punisher’ t-shirt and Walking Dead cap.

The robber is further described as being a black male in his mid to late 30’s, bald, medium build, with some facial hair, wearing a large/oversized black watch on his left wrist, and carries a small zippered bag.
