FBI and Atlanta PD Make Quick Arrest of Armed Bank Robber

ATLANTA—David J. LeValley, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Atlanta Field Office, in conjunction with Erika Shields, Chief of Police, Atlanta P.D., announces the following arrest of an armed Atlanta bank robber that targeted a Wells Fargo bank branch on Greenbriar Parkway earlier this week.

On Monday, June 5, 2017, a lone black male entered the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2841 Greenbriar Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia, and while pointing his handgun at the victim teller, also presented a demand note announcing a robbery. The robber obtained an undisclosed amount of money and departed the bank without further incident.

On Wednesday, June 07, 2017, FBI agents and Atlanta PD officers assigned to the FBI led Atlanta Metropolitan Major Offender Task Force (AMMO) arrested Lewis Steven Richardson, age 59, of Atlanta, without incident. Richardson currently faces state charges, with federal charges anticipated, related to the June 5th Wells Fargo armed bank robbery.

The public should be reminded that the above are merely allegations and that all persons are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
