Atlanta Murder Fugitives Arrested in San Antonio, Texas

ATLANTA—Special Agent in Charge David J. LeValley, FBI Atlanta Field Office, in conjunction with Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields, announces the following recent arrests at San Antonio, Texas.

On Tuesday, August 29, 2017, San Antonio, Texas Police Department’s Repeat Offender Unit arrested David Lee Rios, age 34, of San Antonio, Texas in connection with the May 2017 murder of Vicente Cruz, age 44, at Atlanta, Georgia. Cruz went missing on May 1, 2017 and his body was located on May 22, 2017.

On Tuesday, September 5, 2017, San Antonio Police again assisted Atlanta authorities by effecting the arrest of Gilbert George Moran, age 39, at San Antonio, Texas. Moran is also charged with murder by Atlanta Police in connection with the May 2017 homicide of Cruz.

The FBI Atlanta Field Office obtained federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP) warrants on Rios and Moran when it was learned that they had fled back to Texas.

Both Rios and Moran remain in Texas as they await extradition back to Atlanta, Georgia.

The public should be reminded that the above are merely allegations and that all persons are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
