Woman Wanted by FBI for Alleged Involvement with New Mexico Prison Gang Arrested

Shauna Charlene Gutierrez, who had been wanted by the FBI since April for her alleged involvement with the Syndicato de Nuevo Mexico Prison Gang, was arrested on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.

The FBI, with the assistance of the New Mexico Corrections Department, apprehended Gutierrez at a residence in the community of San Clemente, near Los Lunas, New Mexico.

On April 21, a federal arrest warrant was issued after Gutierrez was charged federally with violent crimes in aid of racketeering (conspiracy to murder), violent crimes in aid of racketeering (attempted murder, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and assault with dangerous weapon), and aiding and abetting.

Gutierrez, 36, of Belen, New Mexico, is expected to have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Thursday, August 4.

The public is reminded all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
