FBI Media Alert: Mescalero Apache Man Faces Federal Assault Charge

Josea M. Kazhe, 19, of Mescalero, New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache Reservation, has been charged in connection with an alleged assault with a chainsaw that occurred on December 24, 2019.

The FBI and U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs arrested Kazhe in Mescalero on March 3, 2020.

Kazhe is charged federally with assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

He had an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Las Cruces on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

The FBI and BIA are investigating.

Charges in criminal complaints are only accusations. The public is reminded that all defendants are considered innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
