FBI Media Alert: Man Flees in Convertible After Robbing Albuquerque Bank

The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are looking for a man who robbed a northwest Albuquerque bank and fled in a white Ford Mustang convertible on Thursday (7/9/2020).

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Native American male, approximately 6'3” tall, weighing about 250-300 pounds, with very short hair or bald, and dark, thick eyebrows.

He wore a black T-shirt with a red skull image on the front; gray shorts; a camouflage baseball cap worn backward; dark shoes; and a surgical mask on his face.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., the suspect approached Bank of the West, located inside a Smith’s grocery store, at 6125 4th St. NW.

The suspect verbally demanded money from a teller and displayed a handgun.

The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who was seen driving away in a white Ford Mustang convertible with no license plates heading south on 4th Street.

Bank robbery carries a possible prison term of up to 20 years. The use of a gun, other dangerous weapon, toy gun, or hoax bomb device during the commission of a bank robbery can be punishable by a prison term of up to 25 years.
