Ivan Allen, 38, of Laguna Niguel, California, has been charged in a federal complaint with assault on a federal officer for allegedly fighting with two Laguna Police Officers.

The incident occurred Tuesday, March 26, 2019, after the officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico.

Allen allegedly exited the vehicle and fought with the officers for several minutes before he was taken into custody.

The officers are federal officers by virtue of their Bureau of Indian Affairs Special Law Enforcement Commission.

1. Allen had an initial appearance in the U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, and was remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending a preliminary/detention hearing on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

The public is reminded that charges are merely allegations and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
