FBI Media Alert: Applications Being Accepted for FBI Teen Academy in Albuquerque

The FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office is now accepting applications for its annual summer academy, which will be held June 10-14, 2019.

The deadline to apply is April 17, 2019.

The Teen Academy allows high school students (rising 11th and 12th graders for the 2019-2020 school year) an opportunity to get a comprehensive look into today’s FBI through presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on activities at the Albuquerque Field Office.

Students are exposed to topics such as counterterrorism, cyber security, public corruption, evidence processing, SWAT, and the day-to-day operations in a typical FBI office.

The academy is free to participants.

“You will not regret joining this program,” wrote Katia, who attended the Academy last year.

Annika, another Academy graduate, added: “The program is amazing. Not only do you get to learn a great deal about all the various sections and duties of the FBI, but you also get to participate in many fun activities that most people will never get to experience.”

Acceptance into the academy is competitive—just 24 spots are offered to students from across New Mexico.

The academy’s hours each day will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Attendance is mandatory for ALL scheduled sessions and times. Punctuality, professional behavior, and appropriate dress will be required of all students participating in the program.

Request an application from Community Outreach Specialist Samantha Madrid at aq.outreach@fbi.gov.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call 505-889-1330.

“I think a teen should apply for this program because it really is an opportunity of a lifetime,” wrote Miriam, a member of last summer’s class. “Not many people are able to say they trained with an FBI special agent.”
