Columbia Man Charged with Sexual Exploitation of Children

COLUMBIA, SC—United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated today that Roberto Luis Molinary, Jr, age 49, of Columbia, South Carolina has been indicted by the Grand Jury, in Columbia, with a three-count indictment for inducing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of the conduct, receiving and possessing child pornography in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2251, 2252A and 2256. Mr. Nettles stated the penalty for sexual exploitation of children is imprisonment of not less than 15 to 30 years. The penalty for receiving child pornography is imprisonment of 5 to 20 years. The maximum penalty for possession of child pornography is 20 years. The case was investigated by the University of South Carolina Police Department, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day, II of the Columbia office is prosecuting the case.
