Upstate Meth Sweep Nets Drugs, Arrests

United States Attorney W. Walter Wilkins stated today, that at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, agents with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a federal search warrant at the residence of Rusty Pointer, located at 121 Meredith Lake Road, Anderson County, South Carolina. More than 10 pounds of methamphetamine was seized by agents pursuant to a search of the property. The investigation is ongoing and continues.

Following the search, Pointer, Pruitt, Osorio-Jamarillo, and Frost were arrested on federal charges alleging a violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 846, conspiracy to possess and distribute methamphetamine. United States Magistrate Judge William M. Catoe set a $1 million secured bond for each defendant. Preliminary hearings have been scheduled in this matter for Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. on the third floor of the federal courthouse in Greenville, South Carolina.
