U.S. Attorney’s Office April 06, 2009
  • District of South Carolina (803) 929-3000

COLUMBIA, SC—United States Attorney W. Walter Wilkins stated today that Kimberly Marie Handy, age 35, of Myrtle Beach, was sentenced in federal court for bank embezzlement. United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten sentenced Handy to five months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release.

Handy embezzled $114,000.00 from RBC Centura Bank in Myrtle Beach while working there as the Client Care Manager. Handy received a reduced sentence because she repaid the entire $114,000.00 when she was sentenced.

The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day, II, of the Florence office handled the case.
