Former Youth Mentor Sent to Prison for Trying to Force Woman into Prostitution

Jeffery N. English, 52, of Cleveland, was sentenced to 21 months in prison after previously pleading guilty to coercion and enticement, said Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio
“This defendant tried to prey upon a vulnerable victim,” Dettelbach said. “Instead of helping her, as he was supposed to do, he tried to push her into a life in the commercial sex industry.”
English admitted last year that from January 7, 2011 through January 20, 2011, he knowingly attempted to persuade, induce, entice, and coerce an individual to travel in interstate commerce to engage in prostitution.
English introduced an 18-year-old woman to a source at his place of employment with Cleveland Catholic Charities. English intended for this woman to be prostituted in Michigan, according to court documents.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Arturo Hernandez and Michael A. Sullivan. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
