U.S. Attorney’s Office November 09, 2010 |
A federal grand jury in Cleveland, Ohio returned an indictment against Derek Albritton, age 51, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, for three counts of bank robbery, Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, announced today.
According to court records, the bank robberies occurred on October 5, 2010 at a Fifth Third Bank; October 12, 2010 at a Key Bank; and on October 14, 2010 at an Ohio Savings Bank. All three banks are in Cleveland, Ohio.
If convicted, the defendants' sentence will be determined by the court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendants' criminal record, if any, the defendant's role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation. In all cases the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nailah K. Byrd following an investigation conducted by the Cleveland office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
