Canton Man Pleads Guilty to 15 Bank Robberies in Northeast Ohio, including Akron, New Philadelphia, and Kent

A superseding information was filed today against Timothy Lynn Miller, age 36, of Canton, Ohio, in connection with 15 bank robberies, Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, announced.

Miller entered a guilty plea today to all 15 counts of the information at a hearing before Judge Lesley Wells today.

The 15-count information charges that Timothy Lynn Miller committed bank robberies on the following dates and locations.

  • 8/15/2009 First National Bank of Dennison 706 South Broadway, New Philadelphia, OH
  • 8/24/2009 Commercial and Savings Bank 635 West High Ave, New Philadelphia, OH
  • 10/29/2009 Huntington Bank 205 North Broadway St., New Philadelphia, OH
  • 12/8/2009 National City Bank 815 Graham Rd., Stow, Ohio
  • 12/29/2009 Applecreek Bank 155 South Market, Wooster, OH
  • 1/11/2010 First Merit Bank 840 Brittain Rd., Akron, OH
  • 1/15/2010 Huntington National Bank 1500 East Main St., Kent, OH
  • 1/20/2010 National City Bank 438 Lake Avenue NE, Massillon, OH
  • 1/25/2010 Key Bank 870 West Maple St., Hartville, OH
  • 1/30/2010 Huntington National Bank 1919 Hills and Dales Rd., Massillon, OH

A federal grand jury had previously returned an indictment against Miller on February 10, 2010 for the February 4, 2010 robbery of the Chase Bank in Akron, Ohio.

Miller’s sentence will be determined by the court after consideration of the advisory Federal Sentencing Guidelines which depend upon a number of factors unique to each case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s roles in the offense and the unique characteristics of the violation. In all cases the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases it will be less than the maximum.

The case was presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel J. Riedl following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, Akron Police Department, Alliance Police Department, Canton Police Department, and Ohio Adult Parole Authority.
