FBI Director Presents Community Leadership Award to Cincinnati Man

On Friday March 20, 2009 FBI Director Robert Mueller presented the 2009 Community Leadership Awards at FBI Headquarters in Washington.

Among those recognized was John R. McConnaughey, President of JRM & Associates Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati. Mr. McConnaughey served as Lynwold, California Police Officer from 1966 to 1974. He is the President of the Cincinnati Citizens’ Police Association and is an Associate member of the Hamilton County Police Association. He is also on the Board of Directors of the FBI Citizens Academy Foundation. In all of these positions he provides support to the Cincinnati law enforcement community.

Mr. McConnaughey is a member of the Cincinnati FBI Multi-Cultural Advisory Council which works to improve dialogue between the various ethnic groups and law enforcement. He is a founder of the Gang Initiative Project and of the Midwest Gang Investigators Association. Both of these organizations are active in Cincinnati schools in anti-gang activities and education programs.

FBI Cincinnati Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Keith L. Bennett congratulated Mr. McConnaughey on his receipt of this award. SAC Bennett stated, “Throughout his life John has demonstrated a commitment to public service. He selflessly gives of himself. I’ve grown so used to John volunteering his efforts and time to law enforcement-community activities, without having to be asked to do so, that I am no longer surprised by the extent of his efforts on behalf of others.”

The FBI Community Leadership Awards are presented annually to individuals who demonstrate outstanding community service within their local communities. Each FBI Division is asked to nominate recipients for these awards. Mr. McConnaughey was nominated by the Cincinnati Division.
